Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

I'm also waiting for more information.

Nokia did sent me an answer that I should install an attachment to solve this problem.

Only... they didn't attach anything. Now trying to get this attachment file for more than 4 days.

Just received a standard word document to fill in.......

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

I think I got that same word document to fill up. It's all really a waste of my time. Even a hardcore Nokia fan like me has no patience for the ridiculous problems with Nokia phones anymore. It's time to move on to HTC/Android. Nokia has lost me.

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

Finally I got the attachment they promised.

Installed it at my Nokia E72 and it worked!

Also tried it to another Nokia E52 with the same issue.

Problem solved fot this model as well.

I've uploaded it to the following share, if the attachment is not usefull:

http://www.4shared.com/file/EX6dxK0a/eas_engine_relsisx.html

Good luck you all!

In my case the installation of the patched version of MfE did not work. I had turned the phone off and on again. Only until I removed the battery and turned it on again, the problem was fixed!

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

Folks - whove installed this patch; have you done this in the US or UK?

I am in the US and dont want to risk installing it if it does not work in the US.

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

I am not sure if the location does really have any influence. I have done it in DE and using the EURO Firmware with english user interface language. If there is an issue you can always flash the same or later firmware again (after data backup of course ;-) which will overwrite the MFE Engine to the orginal one included in the firmware.

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

I installed the patch or software, but it is the same problem with the Email at the exchange

When I downloaded and installed it says that the software it is already installed and then I said replace.

Probably due the software it is already in the phone, there is any way to be removed from it, before I installed again?

Please help me I need this email exchange works correctly, with the E71 everything was great and now...........

Replacing the MfE Engine is correct.

Did you follow all the installation steps in the ReadMe.txt?

Steps for installing the patch:
  • Remove MfE mailbox
  • Install/replace MfE Engine
  • Reboot the phone
  • Setup MfE mailbox

Note:

  • If a user sets the phone back to factory defaults, then the patch eas_engine_rel.sisx would need to be re-installed.

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

Just tried the procedure with all the steps, it doesn't work. I am really disappointed, I think I will give this phone back to get a different device with full mailbox functionality. Down with Nokia!

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

What a pitty :smileysad:

As mentioned for me it worked out with E72-1 (RM-530) and Software version 031.023 and following the installation steps.

But I guess next to the mobile client it is also a question of the Exchange server in the background. AFAIK we are still using exchange 2003.

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

Indeed! It surely is not a server issue, in fact I've been working fine with a Windows Mobile device (6.1) and many people in my company use BBs and everything is up and running!

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

I had the same issue and i was really furious about it. I finally sent a support request to nokia stating everything about my device, firmare version, custom version, etc etc, I also attached a sample from the admin_log1.txt which is the mail for exchange log that in my case looked like below. I finally got an answer from them in which they attached this same patch.  I just installed it and untill now it seems fine. As in my case it took 1-2 weeks before the problem appeared after a hard reset, I have to wait to confirm the solution is good and final.

23/08/2010 12:09:11 Mail For Exchange Error -15006
23/08/2010 12:12:35 PING Command Requested

23/08/2010 12:13:30 status from server indicates a server error
23/08/2010 12:13:30 Nothing to sync
23/08/2010 12:13:30 end Contacts sync
23/08/2010 12:13:30 Mail For Exchange Error -15006

Re: E72 mfe issue after firmware update

After installing the patch, here is what I got.

Firstly for an hour or so, things were right. My E72 even recovered after an error in the ping sequence.  But after ....

05/09/2010 13:30:47 Starting a New Ping
05/09/2010 13:40:18 Exception during Ping.
05/09/2010 13:40:18 New heartbeat = 7.
05/09/2010 13:40:18 HTTP Server Error 408 : Request Timeout
05/09/2010 13:40:18 Starting a New Ping
05/09/2010 13:47:49 Exception during Ping.
05/09/2010 13:47:49 New heartbeat = 5.
05/09/2010 13:47:49 HTTP Server Error 408 : Request Timeout
05/09/2010 13:47:49 Starting a New Ping
05/09/2010 13:52:55 Heartbeat expired. Re-issuing ping.
05/09/2010 13:52:55 Error occurred during Ping.
05/09/2010 13:52:55 Exception during Ping.
05/09/2010 13:52:55 Mail For Exchange Error -15052
05/09/2010 13:52:55 Set SimulateAlwaysOn mode : 1

As you see... ping sequence fails,... Mail for exchange tries to recover it.... An at last...Error 15052. And then Mail for Exchange (See last line)...gets into "SimulateAlwaysOn mode".

What that means? From then on, my Mail for Exchange starts sync each 15 minutes. That´s "SimulateAlwaysOn" mode.

That's not what I expected from the patch.
