If you have 6.82.22 and you have selected that backup file, then there is no contact in that backup file at all -> Did you get any warning message when you made that backup??

I have a 6070 phone, i want to transfer old contact files from a 6610i phone.. Content copier starts, says initializing then stops, asks me to restart copier and phone. Ive done this many times with no luck.

Any solution. ??

Hi avizodoo & davidkc,

Install first PC Suite 6.82 and after that try to make the restore with Content Copier -> if that did not work (and contacts are missing), then try to use Nokia Contact Transfer.

You seem to be the one "in the know", so maybe you can help me as well! ;-)

I had EXACTLY the same problem as the original poster "ciri":
My phone (6230i) died two days ago, but I had a backup made using Nokia PC Suite 6.82.22.0 from a few days earlier. When I got a replacement phone (6230i as well) I tried to restore and every restore attempt stops after 20%. Content Copier then uses 100% of my Laptop Processor and seems to hang. No chance of getting the backed-up data back!!! :-(

Your suggestion of using the Nokia Content Copier was brilliant! Thanks! I now have all my contact data back, BUT unfortunately I can't restore the phone settings nor the SMS that I backed-up and would like to have back!

Is there anything else that can be done??

*RANT_ON* I am shocked about how poor the quality of PC Suite is! Nokia should be ashamed!! *RANT_OFF*

Anyway, I do not have any good solution how get those sms back to phone. But of course you can try to make that restore again. If that do not help, contact to Nokia and ask them to check whats going wrong in there.

I did contact Nokia and they are clueless. They asked me to re-install the PC Suite (because I had a virus scanner running when I installed it in the first place) and to ring back if the problem was still there!

Surprise, surprise, 15 minutes later I rang back!

Then they had concerns about the DKU-2 cable I am using (it is not an overpriced Nokia cable!). But when I asked the guy if successful backup and successful restore procedure with Contact Transfer tool AND successful installation of new applications was not enough proof of proper cable operation, he couldn't find any other problem that was my fault!

He had to concede that I should be happy to have the contact information back and should just re-configure my phone manually and should forget about the SMS that I wanted to get back.

Ohh, he had another ingenious suggestion: Wait for the next version of PC Suite, maybe the problem will be solved! Grrrrr!

Oh, I asked him if at any stage in the support call he would have suggested to use the Content Transfer Tool and he said NO, and confirmed that he hadn't heard of that tool.

So, if miksu can't help and Nokia has given up, what chance do we have to get that issue sorted???????

Well, to the people out there who use PC Suite to do regular backups, I have to say: Don't rely on them!!!!! They might just be another form of useless bit clutter on your harddisk!!!!

I managed to transfer my contents from my old 6610i phone to the new 6070. The files i had stored for the 6610i wouldnt transfer. It wasnt until I made a backup of the 6610i with new software that the files then restored to the new 6070 phone. Successful.

I upgraded "Nokia PC Suite" to 6.82.22.0 and then I started it, then I started "Nokia Contact Transfer" and the button "Copy contacts to phone" is not grey anymore, so when I click on it, it starts copying, but just aftter the start (less then 1%), the progress bar jumps to an end and it says "Error, unknown reason!! Error code 0x80100010"

I mean, this "conecting people" and all the cases studies means nothing if nokia can not resolve this simple problem.

In cases of Nokia Content Copier freezes after upgrading the phone's software, you should try to do as following:
-Reset the factory settings by pressing [*], [#], [7], [3], [7], [0] and [#]
-Do NOT insert the memory card to the phone for during the restore. Even the memory card is not selected to the backup, the memory card will be readed and writed anyway. The memory card might contain a lot of system files what are backed up as a system files.
-Just wait! The restore should take over one hour!

I would like to know what is working...so:
Have you tried to use PC Sync ?
If you have, did it work ok?

(if you do not have any contacts in phone, add at least one)
And try also that Contacts application, when it open press F5 -> can you see phone's contacts ?

And then I would like to know is the problem in your backup file or somewhere else:
1. Make a new backup from phone
2. then start that "Nokia Contact Transfer" and select that new backup file and press "Copy contacts to phone" -> does it work ?? (I think that now there should be every contact two times in phone)

Hi Miksu,
This is all a bit new to me. I am trying to get my contact informaton from a 6230i onto a ney 6234.
I have loaded a fresh copy of PC Sync 6.82.22.
I have backed up all the information from the 6230i onto a fresh backup on this computer running XP Pro SP2. I am using a Belkin doggle which is not giving any problems.
The phones are both paired and being found by PC Sync.

I have tried to restore the data onto the 6234 and I get the 0x80100010 error after about 3 seconds.

I have also run the Nokia Contact Transfer file and that collapses after about 20 seconds

I have one contact only on the new phone.

I know it seems to be going round in circles, but do you have any more ideas?

Hi mikemaguire,

Try this then:
1. Connect your Nokia 6230i.
2. PC Suite > Contacts > press F5 button (update your contacts). After update, click Edit > Select All > Edit (again) > Copy to Folder > select folder and OK.
3. Open second windows explorer and go to that folder where you saved all your contacts. After update, click Edit > Select All > Edit (again) > Copy.
4. Connect you 6234.
5. PC Suite > Contacts > press F5 button. After that click Menu > Paste (then Pc Suite should ask that do you want to update contacts to phone) > OK.

Thanks for the advice.
I managed to get it to work on its own by uninstalling my BT software, then removing PC Suite from my computer. I then used the Nokia PC Cleaner and reinstalled my bluetooth dongle. After that I reinstalled PCSuite. Both phones were recognised and I backed up from the 6230i onto the 6234 without a hitch.
The lesson seems to be, go back to basics but make sure you clean out all of the old registry items before reinstalling!

I have PCSync 6.82.22 in spanish, windos XP Sp2 and nokia 6265.
when I run the content copier it stays like freeze until I click on the close button, after that the buttons to copy , restore and options are enable. When I press the copy or restore button it seems to start the progress bar runs like 5% and then it stays like freeze.
I was able to do backups until I upgrage from the 6.80 version of PCSync to this one

What can I do?

I have the same problem as Avizodoo.
I am using a Nokia N70 with PC Suite 6.82.22.0. I made a backup from my phone, than upgraded the firmware software on it. After I wanted to restore all my data, but the Contacts were not loaded back. I can see in the .nbu file, all my contacts information is there (with Wordpad).
I tried to use the Nokia Contact Transfer, but after 1% of working the progress bar jumps to the end and the following error message appears:
"Error, unknown reason!! Error code 0x80100010"

Any idea how can I restore my contact details? It is really important as I have almost 300 contacts.

Try to reset your phones factory settings...does it help?
