Phones without internal GPS should work fine with a bluetooth GPS device.
GPS listens to radio 'times' from numerous satellites to get a location fix, and is free !! The AGPS (Assisted GPS) uses the phone network to get a quicker fix - there may be a small charge for the data received depending on you service/tariff.
Similarly, if your software does not hold the maps on the phone, then it will need to download the maps (e.g. Google Maps) again with the potential of charge for the data received. You can pre-load maps for 'free' using a a fixed Internet link or Wi-Fi, if your carrier charges for data.

but , for example N95-8GB has Built-in GPS receiver and A-GPS functionality , according to this site :
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n95_8gb-review-188.p
so , if i got this phone working in Any country , will the Built-in GPS receiver work in my country ?? without fees ?
is that what you said ??
but the A-GPS software will work for some fees according to the phone company i use .. ? right ?
is that what you say ?
OR ..
the Built-in GPS receiver will NOT work in my country in general ??
btw , is the GPS service using the Built-in GPS receiver , is it dependent on the phone company (Vodaphone for ex.) or it's just the N95-8GB will receive the GPS signals from the air !!
can any one explain this point for me ... please ??

It just provides you the location of yr current position and search for nearby stuff but you are not able to navigate unless you purchase it from Nokia

As the poster above indicated the GPS device returns your global 3D position and you will need software to place this on a map.
There are lots of low cost mapping/tracking software which allow you to use any map image, after you have geo-fixed/calibrated it).
If you have Internet access then Google maps will works with the GPS.
You can download Nokia Maps 2 and using a PC pre-load any maps you want into you phone, or have your phone download them on demand direct from the Internet (if you have access). Note: maps can be large, so be aware of any charge you may have for Internet access from your phone.
If you want navigation with directions, then you'll need to purchase a product like TomTom, Route66, or navigation for Nokia Maps, etc.

let me summarize the whole thing :
GPS is radio reception/signals FREE in the air .. i can receive it anywhere , anytime as long as i have a GPS receiver chip in my phone .
the phone company (like Vodaphone) and Nokia is not responsible about that .
just N82 (or similar GPS enabled Nokia phones) receive those signals to provide my location .
to view/download maps/3D maps i need a software like TomTom, Route66 compatible with Nokia N82 to navigate through those maps.
i just pay some charges for Internet access when navigating or downloading maps/images .
please correct me if i'm wrong .

But, you can have also have maps stored on your phone and navigate without any data charges. Like TomTom and other sotware does. You can also download/pe-load maps into your phone via a PC's Internet link. Nokia Maps - V2.0 is on beta and looks pretty good See: http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/maps and use the Nokia Map Loader to load in the maps you require.

Nevertheless the involved costs are much less compared to software as TomTom, Route66 or Garmin.
Give it a try, you will like it.

AMAZE performed better in that sense. Maybe less popular but once using AMAZE it gives you a lot of value for free ! ;-)

It's not compatible with the internal GPS so you will need to buy an external GPS if you want tomtom.

Sygic-Mobile is almost a copy of TomTom, very easy to use. It is even possible to convert the radar information from TT to Sygic.
If you like TomTom then I advise you to check Sygic (www.sygic.com)
Have fun.
