I was shocked to hell to read the post below by one of the Administrators here. You agree that some if "not most" of the newly launched N97's may not work properly and then give few troubleshooters (excuses) for it. Please, its not happening in my case, and will try my best does not with my friends who bought this device and facing the problem.
You tell about formatting, oh gee, you know, i don't, if any administrator may know, but a lawyer is supposed to have priceless contacts which can not be deleted. What can one do if the N97 hangs just after couple of hours of purchase. There is no time on the earth to backup them. Ahh, its made in CHINA. It's no fair to its price.
I consider all these issues as glicthes and negligence in the testing of this device.
I need an explanation and a remedial action or otherwise it is going to down to wire honey.
Take care,
Avish
My Nseries device is not functioning properly.
Always make sure that you have the latest software version in your Nokia device. You can update the software yourself using Nokia Software Updater, Nokia's free PC software. Learn more and download Nokia Software Updater at
www.europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate
If you still experience problems, you can try if formatting your Nseries device helps. Format your device by dialling *#7370#. The device will request a security code, the default code is 12345 unless you have changed it.
Note that formatting will delete all user data from the device memory so always make a back-up to a memory card or use Nokia PC Suite.
If you think your Nokia device needs repair, go to www.europe.nokia.com/repair to find authorized Nokia Care Points globally.
How do I know when there is new software available for my Nokia device?
There are several ways to be notified about new sw versions for each Nokia device:
1) Use Nokia PC Suite
Whenever you connect your device to the latest version of Nokia PC Suite with a compatible USB cable, PC Suite will check if there is an update for your device. Note that this notification only works when you use a USB cable connection.
2) Check online
You can easily check the latest available version on the
Nokia Software Update website.
Currently Nokia does not publish the expected release dates for new software versions.
What has been updated in each new software version?
Main updates are published on the
Nokia Software Update website.
How can I make my Nokia device's battery last longer?
Here are some of the most common tips. Note that these tips do not apply to all Nokia device models:
- only enable Bluetooth and WLAN when you need them
- set GPRS connection to "When needed"
- do not leave applications running unnecessarily in the background

Hi,
You should note that, as stated in the Discussions guidelines, this is a user-to-user support forum, it is not a place where you will get direct support from Nokia. The intention of these boards are for individual users such as yourself to share their opinions and assist each other. This is not the place to obtain official responses from Nokia regarding your issue.
If you wish to discuss your issues directly with Nokia, please use the "Contact us" link at the top of this page for telephone and e-mail contact information.
Regards,
Concordia

Concordia is correct, this is a user to user forum, and no we are not paid by Nokia as we are simply everyday phone users like yourself. besides, i thought lawyers would use other brand phones with sliding keyboards such as HTC ![]()
but seriously, yes if you wish to contact Nokia then you can do so by emailing them or actually contacting them directly by telephone in your own country.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

No electronic device is failsafe, so if you value your contact information as much as you make out then you keep it in at least two different geographic locations. One in your phone and one in an online backup system for example. Plus you can make a backup on a memory card. Setting up an online sync account takes minutes (and allows you to transfer the data to another phone in seconds if the need arises). Backing up to a memory card takes seconds.
So, come on yourself. If you want to throw threats of litigation around, that's your prerogative, but as a lawyer yourself you should know full well that the judicial system does not exist to relieve people of the responsibiity of applying due diligence and displaying common sense.
Of course a new product is going to be buggy. This applies to phones in the same way as it does to computers. Early versions of Windows were buggy but people accept that as a fact of life, yet as soon as it's a phone that's buggy all hell breaks loose.

Have you never read any documentation that comes with ANY electronic device that stores data? It is always the responsability of the owner to protect their data, and Nokia (like every other phone, PDA, PC, Laptop etc. manufacturer provided methods for you to do this. Your device can be backed up using Nokia PC Suite, contacts and calendar can be synchronised with Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes etc., methods are provided to similarly copy multimedia content to other devices.
All of this protects you from loss of your data, not only if the device fails due to a fault but also if it gets stolen or is damaged by accident or carelessness by the owner. If you fail to make adequate protection of your data, then it is you, not Nokia, who is the fool when the data is lost - and there is no point wailing about being an important lawyer relying on the device for work, this doesn't make you more important and deserving extra protection from Nokia, it simply makes you an even bigger fool when you lose everything.
Your phone is a sophisticated device, with all of the will in the world it is not possible for any manufacturer to test for every single circumstance, that's why any device may be prone to failure in given circumstances and why so many data protection methods are at the disposal of the user. Being made in China is nothing to do with anything, Nokia makes phones in a number of different countries and all using the same parts, production methods etc. To suggest that a phone made by Nokia in China is not as good as one made by Nokia in Finland is at best ignorant and at worst racist.
If you take your case to the courts, please publish the location and date here so that we can all come and watch you strung out to dry on "the wire", Honey, we'd all love that!

A lawyer that hasn't read the legal texts of the Nokia devices?, HAHAHA ![]()
Yes that's likely!, I recommend reading the user guide, specially the Warning and Cautions pages and the fine print. Reading the Warranty card may also be helpful as well as reading the License agreements of the software in the phone.
