MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

I had my phone replaced yesterday. now when i place my old memmory card in the new phone it is asking for a password access code. i have tried the phone pin code and security code, however they are incorrect. my mmc card has my sat. nav. and i am desperately trying to sort this out. can anyone help on this. thanks a lot.

Re: MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

You have to give the same password that was used on the previous device:

A password on a memory card is used to prevent the use of the card in another phone (in case you loose it, or it gets stolen). If you set it, you should also remove it on the original phone (with the same password that was used you set it), before using the card in a new (another) phone.

If you've lost or forgotten the password, then there is no easy way to recover any data from the card (if it was easy, there wouldn't be much point in a password feature like that in the first place, would there?).

It might be possible to reformat the card in some other device (most devices won't do/allow it, if the password has been set and is not supplied), but reformatting the card will also cause all data to be lost.

A data recovery service (such as Ibas might get the data for you, but the cost for using such a service will probably far exceed the price of the card and the phone (you can probably get many new cards and phones with that money).

Re: MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

i am also led to believe that if you do not know the password it is not possible to format the card either...

I had the same problem about a year ago, click on this link, read the full post and follow the STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS and you should be in business!!!

Let us know how u get on, if it works (and it worked for me twice) I reckon the instructions should be put in a new post and made a "sticky" for everyone else

Re: MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

am i meant to search for this file when my phone is in the cradle? when trying to find, i cannot locate root c: when not syncrhonised. i guess im really close here. i know what my remote lock password is, but when i type the characters (alphabetic), the asteriks dont appear.
i have my tomtom on the mmc which is why i need to access it, althogh they sent me another mmc, there are already programs on it like london map. therefore not sufficient memmory to load tomtom.

Re: MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

No don't think it has to be in a cradle, put the mem card into a fone, any symbian fone according to the whatlaptop post, and go to your file manager, there should be settings in there to search EVERYTHING inc hidden files but how to find that I dont know as I have never used your model of fone

Re: MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

you may be only able to search one thing at a time search fone first then if not search the mem card i looked on my N90 to see if there was a way to search the entire fone but cant see it yet I know it can be done in the 9500

dont suppose u know anyone with one?
