N73 wired car kit cradle available?

I have a Nokia wired car kit for my old 6100. The kit has a Nokia cradle that can be unplugged from the connection lead and presumably a new cradle can be fitted for another phone. Does anyone know if a wired cradle will be made for the N73, other than the universal cradle? The original kit was fitted by Carphone Warehouse, although when I asked in the store they said that there was no cradle for the N73 yet. TIA -Pete

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

There is no hard wired cradle available for the N73. If your car kit is a CK-7W you will be able to still use this via Bluetooth connection, if you have a CARK-126 you will have to buy a new car kit.

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

I have a CARK126. What's the reason that I need to get a new car kit? Is it that currently there is no cradle for the N73? Or have Nokia announced that they will not make a wired / powered cradle for teh N73? It seems that one can change the cradle to support other (older) phones. I don't understand that given there is a pop port on the phone that Nokia wouldn't make a cradle for the N73, or is there some policy that all bluetooth phones must use Bluetooth car kits? I don't want to change the car kit at significant expense and then find that they release a cradle in a few months time. Any help apreciated, thanks. Pete

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

If Nokia havent relesed a cradle so far then they probably wont, the only way this phone will work is via a bluetooth connection. I very much doubt that the car-126 software will support the n73 anyway. Mabe another car kit manufacturer will design a kit with hard wired connection, i have seen this happen several times before. I am in the same oppinion as you in the fact that i wish nokia would just make simple car kits like they used to, rather than assuming that people will want bluetooth.

Thanks for the help Danny; looks like I will have to bite the bullet and change the car kit. Do you have any recommendations on installed bluetooth kits most likely to give the fewest compatibility problems overall?

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

As this is a Nokia forum it would be cheeky to offer anything other than Nokia's wonderful range of products.

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

Hi Folks

I'm an N70 user and I am astonished that Nokia haven't offered a pop out cradle for the N70/N73 series on the CARK-91 kit, given that:
a) The handsets are marketed as a business phones.
b) Battery life is indifferent, particularly if used with SatNav software.
c) Nokia must surely consider the road safety issues raised by users tempted to revert to hand use when the power to the bluetooth headset expires.

There may be an argument that technology has moved on from the six year old CARK-91, but I doubt it. It cannot beyond the wit of Nokia to produce a suitable adaptor.

Can I suggest that you bombard customer support with requests for a replcement cradle (as I have done) ; you never know, vox pop may yet influence big business

Yours in hope

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

The problem is that the cark-91 did not have software to support smart phones, it came up as enhancement not supported when you plugged it in. I make good sense to me to develop a new system. But i do agree that people do want hard wired car kits with proper antenna connections.

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

Nokia recommend the universal holder CR39, but there are non-genuine cradles for the N70, N80 and N73 when using the CK7W kit. The CA27 lead screws into place on the holder, so you don't have to keep plugging the cable into the bottom of the phone. As this is a Nokia forum won't mention the manufacturer, but they do exist.

The N Series phones are aimed at "consumers" (apparently these do not need car kits / holders) and the E series are for "business users" (who do require the kits and holders).
Unfortunately, a lot of business users have been buying the N series....

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

I previously had a 6310i with a fitted wired car kit. I now have a N70 and was able to just change the cradle, it is a Nokia cradle, not specifically for the N70, but it does fit ok, and charges and works just like the before, except that it thinks it's on headphone and won't light up cos the 'car' software isn't on this phone like the old 6230i.

Re: N73 wired car kit cradle available?

My N73 works fine with a CARK-126, using a CR-28 holder. I've put some photos on my blog if you want to see for yourself:

Re: Nokia wired car kit cark 126 - is there any way of using it with a 2730?

I want to replace my 7250i with a new 2730, bluetooth and all the bells and whistles.  I have a cark 126 with original cradle for the 7250i but don't want to replace the thing.  Is there any way of getting the 126 to work with the 2730, obviously with a new cradle?
